I love being in touch with people that want to better their lives with their animals and better the lives of animals in general. Most of youย that support the work that we do here are very loyal in following our work and I can’t thank you enough for that. Those that know me, know I’m very interactive with my audience whether that is at a lecture or workshop, on FaceBook or other social media, or as clients.
Well, I have a few new things to offer to say ‘thank-you’, to keep in touch with you, and to stay closer and more frequent than through the above.
There is a new app called Periscope. It is a ‘live-streaming’ broadcast where you can join me via your mobile device or via your computer. These ‘live-streaming’ broadcasts are called ‘scopes’. If you have followed my work closely, you have probably already joined me and have been a part of my broadcasts.
I scope daily and will be scoping in a few hours about training for walkingย a deaf dog at the park. Each night I pick a different topic from behavior, animal behavior, training, enrichment, applied behavior analysis, behavior questions and concerns, and more.
This is how you find me on Periscope. Download the app. Then do a search for “@The Animal Behavior Center”. Click on ‘Follow’. I usually announce via social media Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, that I am going ‘live’ at a certain time. Sometimes if I see a behavior happening at a particular moment, I may jump on Periscope with no warning and show you what I am seeing so you can view me ‘real-time’ how I am handling a behavior concern or situation.
We scope on parrot training and behavior, deaf dog training, rat training, dog behavior
concerns, pig training, wildlife ambassador training, behavior concerns, and Q & A. Each Sunday at 9am eastern, we have a weekly, scheduled broadcast called “Coffee With The Critters”. It has a large following and it is so neat and fun to be this interactive. You can see me and I can see you typing in questions. You can also talk to other viewers via texting from your mobile device. If you watch via a computer, you can only view what I am seeing and saying and you can see what others are typing in but you can not interact. This is a mobile application.
The scopes are saved for 24 hours and then they disappear unless I save them. I rarely save them but you can see samples of a few I have saved on our website, under the ‘Periscope‘ tab.
Is there something you would like to see me talk about or address? If so, go to the ‘Contact‘ tab on our home page and let me know what you would like to see me train or talk about. This app is for you. Let’s get talking and let’s get training! I’ll see you there!
Private scopes are now starting as a perk for joiningย our membership program.
